"Traversée Commune" - Centre d'Art Crest (Drôme)
Bruno Catalano’s first major institutional exhibition in France — held in Crest, the town in the Drôme region where the artist has lived and worked for years — opened on June 21, 2025, at the Centre d’Art de Crest (Place du Champ-de-Mars) and will remain on view until October 5.
The exhibition "Traversée Commune” is conceived as an educational journey that guides visitors through the creative and technical stages behind Catalano’s sculptures: from clay to plaster, from wax to bronze — showing how matter is transformed, under the artist’s hands, into emotionally charged form.
In addition to offering insight into his artistic process, the exhibition highlights the essential role of local partners — foundries, artisans, technicians — whose collaboration makes the creation and dissemination of the works possible. It is a tribute not only to individual vision, but also to the collective effort that supports it.
Part of the exhibition is the presence of Catalano’s iconic monumental Voyageurs are displayed throughout the Centre d’Art. Their imposing scale enhances the visual and emotional impact of Catalano’s work, offering a powerful reflection on themes of travel, displacement, and identity in transformation.
