Ravagnan Gallery is excited to announce the opening of Attasit Pokpong's solo show "The Presence" at the Museum of Cultures in Lugano, Switzerland. The exhibition, which will open to the public on April 7, will feature 29 large-scale oil paintings and 22 watercolors depicting women's portraits, created by Attasit Pokpong between 2008 and 2023.
The exhibition is an important recognition of the artist's milestone in his research journey. After an initial period devoted to the natural landscapes of Thailand and the urban landscapes of Bangkok, the woman has become the undisputed protagonist of his work, elevated to an absolute symbol of emotion and consequently a quintessential communicative form.
With women's portraits, Pokpong developed an entirely personal style, also becoming the forerunner of a new way of proposing female portraiture, now followed by other contemporary Thai artists. From 2009 onwards, he exhibited in numerous solo shows that took him beyond the borders of Thailand and Asia, to countries such as Cambodia, China, Korea, Taiwan, Belgium, France, Italy, the United States, and for the first time with the exhibition presented at MUSEC, Switzerland.
The exhibition will be open until July 10, 2023, and is a unique opportunity to appreciate the work of one of the leading exponents of contemporary Thai art.
