Marvin's trajectory can be considered unconventional. Rather than attending art schools and academies, she began travelling in search of guidance and inspiration directly from the artists she encountered along the way.

At the same time, she developed an interest in Eastern philosophy, drawing inspiration and essentialism from it for her work. Her study of painting and drawing techniques soon led her to collaborate as an assistant in the studios of various artists, some of whom are internationally recognised.
